RICHARD Randle-Jones is back on his bike again after a series of sessions with Alan at the AMS Physio clinic in Torquay.
Richard, a 45-year-old manager in the retail industry, had an impinged shoulder which was causing him all sorts of problems.
“I couldn’t even lift my bike on to the roof of the car to go out riding with the children, that’s how bad it was,” said Richard, who lives in Newton Abbot.
“I am the sort who just takes a pain killer and gets on with it, but got to the stage where I didn’t want to do that.
“I checked with my insurance company, who said I qualified for their Back to Better programme.
“I contacted AMS and they made an appointment for me straight away.”
Richard, a father of two, said after his first session in the Torquay clinic on the Terrace he could feel an improvement.
“I had never been to a physiotherapist before and had no idea what to expect,” said Richard.
“What impressed me about my AMS physio was the laid-back way he went about things in a totally professional manner.
“It was clear from the start he was 100 per cent focussed on me. All my apprehensive feelings went away.
“My physio made it very plain I had my part to play too by completing the exercises he gave me.
“I walked out of that first session feeling so much better.
“Since then I have returned a number of times and we are making good progress. I was only about 40 per cent when we started, now I am about 70 per cent.
“Every time I go back my physio assesses my progress and changes the exercises if he thinks that is needed.”
Richard said he is seeing numerous benefits from his treatment at AMS, not just getting out and about on his bike.
“I was suffering from badly broken sleep because of my shoulder impingent, but that has improved greatly,” he said.
“Best of all I am able to lift my two children up again and play with them.”
