AMS Physiotherapy and

Sports Injury Clinic.

Mrs Mary Byrne

Having trained in physiotherapy at The Royal London Hospital, I gained a broad general experience working in large hospitals in Cambridge and Derby, before moving on to a senior post in Paediatrics in Birmingham.

I then took a career break to bring up my three children, during which years I also studied for a degree in science and health-related subjects with the Open University and ran the local counselling service of a national charity.

IOn returning to physiotherapy in Kent in 1992, I started to build up my expertise in musculoskeletal (out-patient) work within the NHS. In my last few years there, I helped to set up and run a specialist hand clinic.

Moving to Derbyshire in 2004, most of my work began to be within local private practices. I have worked with AMS Physiotherapy since moving to Somerset in Autumn 2008.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to learn and practise many of the different but complimentary approaches that physiotherapy has to offer, and have also pursued an interest in the topic of chronic (long-standing) pain, and find great satisfaction in working with sufferers to improve their quality of life.Outside work, I enjoy reading and languages. I also swim and do Pilates to stay fit, and am looking forward to lots of walking, exploring the local countryside – especially as this is the first time we have ever lived by the sea.

Mary works at Clevedon on Tuesdays and Fridays.
